How to see class profit on WellnessLiving
Short answer: take what each student in a class actually paid for that visit, subtract the teacher's pay for that class and the class's share of your rent. WellnessLiving has the attendance and sales you need, but it doesn't put them together per class. You can do it in a spreadsheet, or let Studio Bolster do it every day.
Why attendance isn't enough
A class with 12 people can lose money if most of them are on a cheap intro offer or ClassPass and the class is 90 minutes long. A class with 7 people on drop-ins can do fine. Full and profitable aren't the same thing.
Working it out by hand
- Money in per student. Drop-ins and class packs: the price per class. Monthly members: their monthly price divided by the classes they took that month. ClassPass: what ClassPass actually paid you per visit, from their statement.
- Teacher pay. The teacher's rate for that class, including any paid check-in time.
- Rent share. Your monthly rent divided across the classes you run, weighted by length. A 90-minute class carries more than a 60.
- Profit = money in − teacher pay − rent share. Average it over a few weeks so one slow day doesn't decide anything.
- If it's negative, divide the shortfall by what a student brings in. That's how many more students the class needs.
| Wednesday noon Yin (example) | Per class |
|---|---|
| Money in, 4 students | $52 |
| Teacher pay | −$53 |
| Rent share, 75 minutes | −$35 |
| Left over | short $36 |
| Students needed at $13 each | +3 |
It's doable, but it takes hours a month, and it's out of date the day you finish.
How Studio Bolster does it
Class profit reads your WellnessLiving schedule, attendance and pass types every day and does the math above for every class: what it makes or loses each time it runs, how many more students a short class needs, and a short to-do list of what to cut, combine, move or protect.

Juniper Yoga, our made-up demo studio. Every number is invented.
Teachers see their own side in their Teacher Portal: which of their classes cover their costs and how many more students a short one needs, without seeing anyone else's numbers or your rent.
