How to find subs on WellnessLiving
Short answer: WellnessLiving lets you change who teaches a class, but it has no way for a teacher to ask the others to cover. Most studios fill that gap with a group text. A sub request page that emails every teacher, where the first to say yes gets the class, is faster and leaves a record.
What WellnessLiving does
In WellnessLiving you, or staff with the right access, can switch the teacher on a class so the schedule and the teacher's pay report show the right person. What it doesn't do is the part before that: finding someone who can teach.
How most studios find subs today
- A group chat (GroupMe, WhatsApp, a text thread). Fast when it works, but messages get buried and muted, and nobody's sure who said yes first.
- The owner texts people one by one. It works, and it costs the owner an evening.
- A shared sub sheet. Teachers forget to check it.
The common problem: nothing ties the request to the actual class on the schedule, and nobody's in charge of closing it.
What a good sub request needs
- It goes to every teacher at once, by email, not a chat they've muted.
- It names the exact class, day and time, straight from the schedule.
- The first teacher to say yes gets it, and everyone else sees it's gone.
- The teacher who asked hears back right away.
- If nobody can cover, there's a clear way to cancel so students are told.
How Studio Bolster does it
Each teacher has a Teacher Portal showing their next 7 days from your WellnessLiving schedule. Next to every class: Need a sub and Cancel class.
- Need a sub emails every other teacher and puts the class on their pages, with a note if they want.
- The first to tap I'll take it gets the class. The teacher who asked gets an email and switches the name in the WellnessLiving app.
- Cancel class sends the studio a to-do and a text so the class comes off in WellnessLiving and students are told.
It needs WellnessLiving's API add-on ($19 a month from WellnessLiving) and nothing else. Your booking, members and billing stay as they are.
